HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn was inducted into the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame Friday night in Hot Springs, Ark.

"I tell you what, I'm a little overwhelmed," Malzahn said. "It's a real special night for me. "Brings back a lot of memories. I think about all the coaches, the players, the administrators, that helped me get here tonight, and it's a very special night."

The ceremony took place just almost exactly between Malzahn's hometown of Fort Smith and the city where he got his coaching start as a defensive coordinator at Hughes High School.

Malzahn went from Hughes to Shiloh Christian in Springdale, Ark., then to Springdale High. He finished his high school coaching career 133-26, and won three state titles.

The first-year Tigers head coach told the crowd, no matter how much success he has at the college level, he always considers himself a high school coach at heart.
