Florida Gators fuel off of Sugar Bowl loss

HOOVER, Ala. -

SEC Media Days kicked off with the Florida Gators. They are a team that only lost two games last season. One of those was a Sugar Bowl loss to Louisville, and it left a bad taste in their mouth.

The Florida Gators do not want to forget what it felt like when they lost to Louisville by ten points in New Orleans.

"They have this big poster of the score right before you walk into the locker room," said Florida Defensive End Dominique Easley. "Every day we have to see it."

Gator coach Will Muschamp says the Gators' next step will be difficult.

"You've got to continue to climb the mountain," said Florida coach Will Muschamp. "The higher you get, the more treacherous the steps become. Keep yourself grounded, ,keep your staff grounded, and keep your team grounded."

One area where Florida expects more stability is their quarterback position. Jeff Driskel says not being in a competition makes a difference.

"It is easier to be more vocal when you're the set quarterback," Driskel said. "When there is a competition, you don't want to step on anyone's toes.  People aren't looking at you the same. You don't have that authority that you have when you're the set quarterback."

And there is one player that Columbus knows very well that Driskel is glad to not see this year.

" Who has hit me the hardest? I have taken some shots. I'd say Jarvis Jones hit me the hardest and the most," said Driskel.

The Gators don't want to hear any other team's fight song, but Dominique Easley says one team's fight song is the most annoying.

" Rocky Top. Not just because it is Tennessee, but Rocky Top, you know. I don't understand the Rocky Top," said Easley.

The Gators first game this year is against Toledo on August 31st.
