Pinehurst unveils major renovations to Member Clubhouse

Posted: Updated:
PINEHURST, N.C. -

Pinehurst Resort & Country Club debuted a multi-million-dollar renovation at its Member Clubhouse on Thursday night.

The overall renovations are a $3.7 million project that include interior redesigns and improvements to the rear veranda overlooking Pinehurst No. 2.

Everything about the club has changed, but probably the most significant is the veranda that overlooks course No. 2. That's where the best players in the world will compete next year in the Men's and Women's U.S. Open Tournaments. When players finish at the 18th hole, the clubhouse in the background will now have distinctive arches that replaced old awnings.

Management says the changes were not directly because of next year's U.S. Opens, but they hope the new look will make the building one of the few in golf that is immediately recognizable at first glance.

"Now I think we'll be one of those view that is very iconic, and when you look at it, you'll know it's Pinehurst," commented Jay Biggs, the senior vice president for golf and operations at Pinehurst.

"This renovation is the beginning of a broader plan to provide a more dynamic experience for our members, including regular member dining, a more active social calendar and ultimately, a state-of-the-art swim and fitness complex," said Robert Dedman, CEO and owner of Pinehurst. "The vision is to incorporate all the amenities for our members into one central location."
