Hardaway looks to reverse fortune in 2013

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Hardaway Hawks finished 2012 3-7, but expect 2013's record to end up closer to the reverse.

As Hardaway opens fall camp, expectations are high thanks to an experienced offensive line and a bona fide superstar running behind them.

Justin Crawford exploded onto the scene as a sophomore in 2012, surprising even himself, he said. Since then, he's learned how to work and how to prepare, and expects bigger things from himself and his team.

"The team this year, we have enough talent to go farther than we did last year," Crawford said.

Even though it's early in the workouts, head coach Jeff Battles is already seeing things he likes.

"It seems like we're running the ball pretty well," Battles said. "The offensive line is very experienced, [we] have a really good running back, so that's helped us a lot on the run game."

Hardaway opens the season Aug. 30 against Jordan at Kinnett Stadium.
