Good Samaritan pays for 500 strangers' cups of Joe

EDMONTON, ALBERTA -

Customers trying to pay for their cups of coffee at a Tim Hortons restaurant in Alberta, Canada this weekend were told "no charge."

The free java was thanks to an anonymous donor who employees say slapped down nearly 900 Canadian dollars to pay for customers' orders behind him.

"One customer came in, and he said oh I want to buy 500 coffees," said one employee.  "And I was like why, and he was like no reason."

There were similar incidents reported at Tim Hortons across Canada at least six different times last week.  A representative for the restaurant chain says the free coffees were not a publicity stunt and that the restaurant has nothing to do with the Good Samaritans.
