Warrants signed in Lee County copper theft

SALEM, Ala. -

Two arrest warrants have been signed as Lee County authorities look for thieves who stole copper last week.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office obtained felony arrest warrants for James Lee Pugh, of Cusseta, Alabama; and John Joseph Harrison, of Smith Station, Alabama, for second degree Theft of Property and Damage or Destruction of Property. The two men, along with a third not yet publicly identified, were caught on camera stealing $1,600 worth of copper from a public utility on Lee Road 239 on July 22 in Salem.

Investigators credit the public with identifying the men after surveillance images were released online last week.

If anyone has additional information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect or the theft, they are asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 334-749-5651.
