Bristol deputy named D.A.R.E. Officer of the Year

BRISTOL,VA - The Virginia DARE Officers Association and the Virginia Department of State Police DARE Training Center announced that Bristol Virginia Sheriff's Office Deputy Greg Vincill has been selected as the 2013 Virginia State DARE Officer of the Year. 

Deputy Vincill, a 19 year veteran of the Sheriff's Office, was nominated by a peer and was selected by the DARE Officers Association during their award selection meeting. 

The award will be presented to Vincill during the opening ceremonies of the Virginia DARE in-service which is being held at the Hampton Pavilion on August 6, 2013 beginning at 8:00 AM in Hampton, VA.

Deputy Vincill has delivered the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program to students in Bristol, Virginia schools for the past 12 years and is active in various school and community events. 

Deputy Vincill, in addition to his classroom activities, also serves as an instructor/mentor in training of new DARE officers from across the country.
