FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A 23-year-old Fort Bragg soldier is accused of befriending a mentally disabled man and spending nearly $4,300 of his money.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that Rashoad Crosson of Fayetteville was charged Wednesday with exploiting a disabled adult and neglecting a disabled adult.

Crosson is in the 65th Military Police Company.

According to arrest documents, he was arrested while on duty and is awaiting a punitive discharge.

Arrest warrants say Crosson used the victim's debit card to withdraw money from his account between November and May. They also accuse Crosson of failing to provide medical care to the victim, resulting in a mental injury. The documents gave no details on the accusation.

A Fayetteville police spokesman says Crosson met the victim through activities on Fort Bragg.
