UPDATE: 11:20 P.M.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol tells News Channel 11 that one person is dead following a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Horace Dillow Road and Nofattie Road in Washington County.

THP said the crash occurred just before 7 p.m. on Thursday night.

Troopers at the scene said a woman driving a Chevy Cavalier turned in front of a pick-up truck resulting in a T-bone crash that pinned the car against a tree.

The woman was airlifted by Wings Air Rescue to the Johnson City Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck fled the scene of the crash on foot even though troopers said he was not at fault in the crash. In his haste to get away, the man left behind his dog that had been riding in the bed of the truck at the time of the crash. The dog appeared to be uninjured and was removed by Washington County Animal Control.

THP said the man driving the truck was well known to law enforcement and was believed to be driving on a revoked license.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department is still searching for the driver of the pick-up truck.

The identities of those involved in the crash have not been released and no charges have yet been filed.

The investigation remains ongoing.
