Auburn players report day before practice

AUBURN, Ala. -

The countdown started at months, was whittled down to weeks, then days, and now finally, it's at hours.

Auburn will open fall camp 2013 on Friday. It will be the first camp for Gus Malzahn as head coach, and the first chance for the Tigers to fully wash the taste of a 3-9 2012 out of their metaphorical mouths.

"That 3-9 was a big motivator, I think, for everybody," said junior wide receiver Quan Bray. "Nobody wants to go through that ever again."

The team toured the brand new dorm facility on campus that will house them. It is not a stretch to see that as another example of a fresh start.

"We're looking forward to going out there and getting victories," said senior defensive end Nosa Eguae. "There's nothing like winning in this league, and we're all looking forward because we didn't win a lot last year. We're looking forward to going out there and winning games."

While veteran players met with the media on Thursday, there was no sign of a resignation to a rebuilding year. In fact, the goal for the team is simple: Bowl bid or bust.

"I feel like everybody's really motivated," said senior punter Steven Clark. "I feel like people are really wanting show how we're not the two-win team, or whatever we were last year, and we're a lot better than what we showed."

Auburn will practice for seven straight days, with the first day in pads on Aug. 6.
