Columbus Police clear 13 area burglaries

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Burglary & Theft Unit of the Columbus Police Department have cleared 13 burglaries in our area.

After a large amount of residential break-ins in east Columbus over the past several months the unit conducted two nights of details.

On West Park Drive two people were arrested for a burglary in process. Nineteen-year-old Traveon Thomas and Raquan Williams, 16, were charged. Two burglaries were cleared and officers are trying to determine if the men were involved in other break-ins.

Thirty-two-year-old Demetrius Pyatt and Aron Torbert, 32, were arrested during a traffic stop. Officers saw a burglary suspect vehicle and pulled the car over. A man fled on foot, but was apprehended. It was discovered he was a well-known burglar and he had multiple outstanding warrants. The female driver was also arrested after officials found she assisted in the burglaries. They are being charged with five burglaries.

Jonathan Lee, 16, was arrested in connection with burglaries in the Columbia Drive/Olsen Avenue area. He is being charged with six burglaries.
