NC State's Thornton suspended for opening game vs. La. Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. -

N.C. State coach Dave Doeren said Wednesday that he has suspended running back Shadrach Thornton for the Wolfpack opener against Louisiana Tech.

N.C. State running back Shadrach Thornton faces assault on a female charges and has a court date for Aug. 22.

Thornton is accused of grabbing a woman by the arm and pushing her against a wall, according to court documents.

The incident happened June 5, according to the documents and Thornton was given a bond of $1,500.

Thornton, 6 feet 1 and 203 pounds, led State in rushing with 694 yards as a freshman.
