The Georgia Bulldogs scrimmaged for the first time in 2013 on Wednesday morning, and the results had Mark Richt less than pleased.
"For the first day, first time, I didn't see as much juice," Richt said afterwards. "It was a little disappointing to me, quite frankly, being that it was a scrimmage."
Keith Marshall had the most rushing yards with 80, all coming on two carries, 75 of which on one run that ended in a touchdown. Todd Gurley had 59 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
The passing game struggled. Aaron Murray completed 13 of 18 for 198 yards and a touchdown, but was intercepted three times. Hutson Mason was 12 of 18 for 197 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.
Senior tight end Arthur Lynch led the receivers with four receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Afterwards, Richt surmised the weather may have played a role in the sub-par performance.
"This was practice number eight, the first after the first two-a-day," he said. "I'm sure they are a little worn out."
The fifth-ranked Bulldogs open the season against no. 8 Clemson on Aug. 31. It is the only week-one preseason top-10 matchup.
