Gupta: We've been mislead on medical marijuana

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. -

Popular television personality Dr. Sanjay Gupta is changing his tune when it comes to medical marijuana.

In a CNN documentary airing Sunday night, Gupta outlines "legitimate medical applications" for the drug. The opinion comes in direct contrast to his own previous thoughts.

"Reading these papers five years ago, it was hard to make a case for medicinal marijuana," Gupta says in a CNN.com editorial. "I apologize because I didn't look hard enough, until now. I didn't look far enough."

The documentary comes at a time of ongoing national discussion about the use of the drug.
