WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WJHL) -

A woman at home alone takes a stand against a man who broke into her home - intent on stealing prescription drugs. Now, the man police say barged into her home is behind bars.

Washington County, VA Sheriff Fred Newman told News Channel 11 Lynville Wilson turned himself in Monday night. He's being held without bond at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail on robbery and abduction charges.

Wilson is the wounded man suspected to be involved in a home invasion that happened early Monday morning in Abingdon.

"He pulled a knife out of his pocket and put it to me and told me he wanted my medicine," said the robbery victim. "He put the knife in my back and demanded medicine. I was standing there I was going to get stabbed - I walked into my bedroom and I gave him my medicine."

When the robbery's back turned, for mere seconds, this allowed the woman precious time to act.

I grabbed my 38 pistol and walked out of my bedroom and I pointed it at him. He reached and got his knife to come towards me - and that's when I shot him," said the victim.

The victim shot 4 times. There are four bullet holes in the wall of her home. One of the shots, she says, grazed the robber's head. "He kept saying, ‘Please don't shoot me no more.' ‘Please don't shoot me no more. ‘Ma' am, Please, don't shoot me no more.' And I said. ‘If you move… I'll shoot you again," recounted the victim.

"I am so thankful to God that I had that gun. If I didn't have that, I wouldn't be here talking today," said the victim.

PREVIOUS STORY:

Washington County, VA Sheriff Fred Newman has confirmed with News Channel 11 that authorities are searching for a wounded man involved in a home invasion on Fiesta Drive in Abingdon.

It happened around 7:25 Monday morning.

We're told the suspect came to the homeowner's door, broke in, and had a knife. Sheriff Newman says the man wanted prescription medication drugs. The woman grabbed her gun and shot the suspect - wounding him.

He was driving an older model green Dodge Dakota pickup truck with a gray bottom.
