Panthers shake up offense for 2013

CUSSETA, Ga. -

It's a new day for the Chattahoochee County Panthers.

That is the goal, anyway, for Russell Morgan's team.

In the midst of a three-year stretch that has seen them win just nine games total, the Panthers have shaken up their offense for 2013.

Senior Chris Askew moves from quarterback to a wide receiver/running back hybrid position, while sophomore C.J. Afoa moves from receiver to under center.

"[We want to] get better each day, make it to the playoffs," Askew said. "Hopefully, win state."

Morgan has 24 seniors on the roster, something he says is uncommon for the Panthers, and likes the way his team has prepared so far, even though he'd like a little more.

"I wish we had two more months of practice before we played," Morgan said. "You want everything to be perfect, but great attitude right now, kids are working hard. Nobody's moaning about the heat, so I'm really proud of the attitude and the character they're playing with right now."

Chattahoochee County opens the season Aug. 30 on the road against Stewart County.
