Congressman Paul Broun visits WRBL News 3 to talk Senate run

Posted: Updated:

Dr. Paul Broun called for buildup of the military and a return of certain issues back to the states during a live, in-studio interview with WRBL News 3 Tuesday. The United States representative for Georgia's 10th District has announced a run for U.S. Senate.

Broun, a career doctor, would like to see certain powers returned to the states. He says he would like to see the United States Department of Education shutdown in order to have more payroll money available for teachers. He feels education and environmental issues should be handled on state level.

Broun, a military reservist, hopes to get on the Senate Armed Services Committee if elected.

Broun currently serves the residents of east central Georgia including Athens, the western communities near Augusta and as far south as Milledgeville. He is one of seven republicans who has already announced a run to replace outgoing United States Senator Saxby Chambliss.
