CARY, N.C. -
Search warrants release by the Cary Police Department reveal details about the relationship a Fayetteville man had with his underage stepdaughter since 2009.
Ike David Simmons, 37, was indicted on Aug. 20 on charges of first-degree sexual offense of a child, two counts of statutory rape, indecent liberties with a child and sex offense in a parental role.
The charges are from incidents reported by a victim who was 12 years old at the time the relationship began, according to authorities.
An affidavit said Simmons began a sexual relationship with the girl in October 2009. The report reveals the victim told her mother on July 31 that she was having a sexual relationship with her step father.
Police said the victim said she traded nude photos with Simmons over the course of four years. The report also said Simmons used a cellphone to record their sexual acts.
Police said the sex acts took place in multiple jurisdiction in North Carolina. An affidavit lists Apex, Parkton and Cary as locations of the offenses.
Starting in October 2009, Simmons purchased condoms for the victim so that she could use them with her other sexual partners but not himself, the report states. Simmons told police during an interview on Aug. 1 he did purchase condoms for the victim, but only for her to use in sexual acts with other boyfriends, authorities said.
Simmons told police during the same interview the victim made romantic advances when her mother left for work a day in May, police said. Simmons also stated the victim used his personal cell phone over the past four years to communicate with boyfriends.
A search warrant executed on Aug. 8 shows police seized a grayish color shirt with black writing. The victim told police Simmons used the shirt as blindfold on the victim during sex acts, police said.
The warrant also said police searched numerous cell phones, hard drives, discs and flash drives. A 2007 Ford Focus was also listed on the warrant.
An affidavit revealed Simmons is a registered sex offender after being convicted of sexually assaulting a juvenile female as an adult.
Simmons is being held at the Wake County jail under a $2.5 million bond. He has a court appearance on Aug. 22.
