Chambers County, Al. -

Chambers County in Alabama can boast three stops on the famed Piedmont Plateau Birding Trails. There are 34 sites in nine east Central Alabama counties.

News 3 visited the mile-long Alligator Creek nature Trail. The trail ends at  West Point Lake. Elinor Crowder, the Executive Director of the Greater Valley Area  Chamber of Commerce is excited about the variety of birds at this site.

"Pileated woodpeckers , a variety of birds in the high canopy, great horned owl. And at the lake of course you have a variety of waders, you have osprey and you have a variety of different birds there. People canoeing and kayaking about every time pick up a sighting of an eagle, a bald eagle," said Crowder.

Ophelia, a great horned owl is the mascot for the Alligator Creek Nature Trail site. She lives at the Raptor Center at Auburn University but was here for the grand opening.
