DURHAM, N.C. -

Investigators in Durham are continuing to search for a man wanted for questioning in a home invasion early Friday morning that left one person dead.

Authorities say Oscar Armando Elfaro, 42, unlawfully entered a home on Stoney Creek Circle early Friday morning when he was shot and killed by one of the occupants of the home.

Authorities say it appears that Elfaro broke in through the back door and struggled with one of the occupants before he was shot in the neck. Four people were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Investigators say it is unclear if the man who shot Elfaro lives at the home. It appears the intruder may have known one or more of the occupants of the home.

Deputies with the Durham County Sheriff's Office believe Carlos Hernandez fled the home after the shooting. Authorities say they want to interview Hernandez to hear his side of the story.

No charges have been filed at this time.
