Fayetteville man accused of fatally stabbing brother

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -

A Fayetteville man is accused of stabbing his brother to death Monday night on Rhew Street.

Detectives say the victim has been identified as Todd Eugene Smith, 49, of Rhew Street. The suspect is identified as Claude Smith, 52, the victim's brother.

On Monday night, Fayetteville police responded to the 300 block of Rhew Street in reference to a stabbing just after 10:30 p.m. When officers entered the home, a deceased male was found inside.

It was determined that an altercation had occurred inside the home and ended with the victim being fatally stabbed.

Smith is charged with second degree murder and is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $250,000 secure bond.
