New-look ACC looking for more football success

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Atlantic Coast Conference has new teams, a renegotiated TV package and a media-rights deal that offers protection from future realignment.

And to go along with that new look, the league sure could use some football success.

Pittsburgh and Syracuse bring the league to 14 football members. The ACC starts the year with two teams ranked in the top 11 of the Top 25 and has five games with top-10 nonconference opponents in the first two weeks of the season.

North Carolina left tackle James Hurst says league teams have to work together by performing well in big games to improve the league's credibility, though Clemson coach Dabo Swinney says teams can't afford to focus on making a statement for the ACC in marquee matchups.
