Army paratrooper dies after SC motorcycle crash

FLORENCE, S.C. -

Military officials say an 82nd Airborne Division paratrooper has died from injuries received in a motorcycle accident in South Carolina.

A statement from the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg said 30-year-old Warrant Officer Anisha Phillips of New York died. She served as a chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological technician.

Phillips was killed in an accident in Florence, last Saturday, according to statement from the U.S. Army.           

Phillips served two combat tours in Iraq and a tour in Afghanistan.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at 12 p.m. in the Wiseman Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

She is survived by: her parents, Gregory Johnson and Lillie Carnes; brothers, Gregory Tindall and Andre Tindall; sister, Sabrina Johnson; maternal grandmother, Lucille Tindall and a host of other relatives and friends.

According to her obituary, there will be a viewing on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends at 2054 Corrinna St. in Fayetteville.
