HAVELOCK, N.C. -

A local high school student is accused of bringing a weapon to school.

According to court documents, school officials found a black folding lock blade pocket knife in a student's bookbag.

On Wednesday police arrested that student, 16-year-old Casy Hester.

A teacher asked Hester whether he had anything in his bookbag that he shouldn't have.

Hester allegedly replied no, and after giving consent to a search, the school resource officer found a knife in the bookbag's top pocket.

Hester is charged with misdemeanor bringing a weapon to school property. His next court date is October 3.

The school has taken administrative action against the student, said Havelock police chief Wayne Cyrus.

A nice firm handshake has long been a mark of good manners and elevated social skills, but it's also a very germy way to greet your fellow humans.
