CARTER COUNTY, TN (WJHL) -

UPDATE 6 p.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirms the man arrested for allegedly running from troopers during a traffic stop in Hampton is Clinton Campbell, 46, of Elizabethton. THP also says the other two people who apparently ran from troopers are still on the run.

Carter County School officials confirm Hampton High School and Hampton Elementary School are still on a "soft" lock down after three people ran from a traffic stop near the schools.

The Carter County Sheriff's Department says the Tennessee Highway Patrol was doing a seat belt check near Crook Street and First Avenue. According to Sheriff Chris Mathes, two men and a woman took off and ran during the stop. Sheriff Mathes says troopers were able to get one man in custody. However, Sheriff Mathes says law enforcement officials are still looking for the other two people who ran from the stop.

"There doesn't appear to be any real threat near the schools," said Sheriff Mathes. Officers will remain in the area for the remainder of the school day.

Officials with Carter County Schools say a soft lock down will remain active the rest of the school day at Hampton Elementary and Hampton High School. There was also a lock down at Valley Forge Elementary School, but school officials say that lock down has been lifted.
