HUBERT, N.C. -

A man suspected of robbing a convenience store customer apologized when he was arrested Sunday morning and told a deputy times are hard and he just needed money.

It happened about 4:10 a.m. at a Scotchman store in Hubert in Onslow County.

Deputies say a man wearing a ski mask over a helmet robbed a customer using a screwdriver as a weapon. He drove away on a moped.

Deputies say the suspect was arrested a short distance away, still wearing the ski mask over his helmet.

He's been identified as Wesley Baxter, 24.

The suspect is being held in the Onslow County jail on $130,000 bond. He's charged with robbery with firearm or other dangerous weapon, two counts kidnapping, larceny from a person and assault with a deadly weapon.
