Abducted Columbus baby found; search for suspect continues

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A 1-year-old abducted Tuesday evening in Columbus has been found, Columbus police confirm to WRBL News 3. 

The child, Ronald Gray, was strapped into a car seat in the back of a 2013 Chrysler 200 when the vehicle was stolen from a BP gas station At 11:13 p.m., police received a 911 call from someone who spotted the vehicle.

Arriving officers found the vehicle abandoned on Ukraine Drive in Columbus. The child was unharmed and asleep in the backseat. He was expected to be reunited with his mother shortly.

Police are continuing to search for the suspect, who is described as a black male. No further descriptive features were immediately available.

The car and baby were taken around 9:30 p.m. from the gas station, located at 3809 Saint Mary's Road, after the boy's father left the vehicle running and unlocked while he went inside the store.
