Former Central star among top receivers for Arkansas State

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

When the Arkansas State Red Wolves take the field Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium, a former Bi-City standout will take it with them.

J.D. McKissic is the Red Wolves' leading returning receiver, and starred at Phenix City-Central High School. He caught 25 passes for 571 yards and six touchdowns will running for 411 yards and returning kicks during his high school career.

After redshirting in 2011, McKissic exploded onto the scene last season, catching 103 passes for 1,022 yards and five touchdowns, among the tops in the Sun Belt Conference.

McKissic was held in check during Arkansas State's 62-11 season-opening win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, catching two passes for three yards. He did carry the ball three times for 22 yards and a touchdown.
