Raleigh police were searching Friday for a man who tried to rob a Bank of America branch on Capital Blvd. in North Raleigh.

Police said the suspect went into the bank at 5005 Capital Blvd. at about 1 p.m. and passed a note to a bank employee demanding money and implying that he had a weapon.

He left the bank before receiving any money and fled on foot, police said.

Raleigh police described the suspect as black, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a tattoo on the left side of his neck. He was wearing a dark-colored shirt, a hat with a camouflage pattern, shorts with a camouflage pattern of black, white and gray and black-and-white sneakers.

Anyone who can identify the robber or who has information about the case is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357 or visit www.raleighcrimestoppers.org for text and e-mail reporting options.
