Fayetteville club loses liquor license over violence

Posted: Updated:

The North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission revoked the liquor license of a Fayetteville nightclub Saturday that was the scene of a robbery and fatal shooting on Aug. 30.

The ABC Commission revoked the license of Chief's 25 Plus at 612 W. Rowan St. Authorities said recent violent deaths caused law enforcement to act.

The action taken against Chief's 25 Plus and another club in Charlotte marks the fourth time in 2013 the ABC Commission has stripped establishments of their ABC permits due to violence.

The ABC Commission said the suspension takes effect immediately.

On Aug. 30, 37-year-old Derrick Morrisey, of Raeford, was hit and killed by a stray bullet while walking a woman to her car at the club, according to police

Anyone with information about the shooting of Morrisey or the identity of the gunman is asked to call detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1856 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.
