Photo Slideshow: Virtual tour of World Trade Center memorial

Posted: Updated:

Just across the Hudson River from the Statue of Liberty sits Lower Manhattan. Two blocks from the shoreline, construction workers have spent over a decade cleaning up and rebuilding the World Trade Center.

Today, global visitors come to the site, which features fountains in the footprints of the Twin Towers. Nearby, workers continue work on the 100-story, 1,776-foot tall Freedom Tower. Other workers and decorators are putting the finishing touches on the 9/11 Memorial Museum, which resides underneath the site.

The memorial is free and open to the public (reservations are required). The enclosed is a slideshow, meant to act as a virtual tour of the site. The captions tell the story of the site and the people it remembers.
