Job Readiness kickoff set for Sept. 23

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Veterans are getting some help finding their place in the workforce.

The Georgia Department of Labor will host a Job Readiness Kickoff Monday, September 23, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Columbus Technical College.

The program is designed to help the returning veterans in networking, interviewing, translating their military skill-sets to the civilian workforce, and how to successfully navigate a career expo.

Another program tailor-made for veterans is scheduled for October 17. The Paychecks for Patriots Career Expo will be held at Columbus State University.

    The U.N. is warning that food prices are rising in countries hit by Ebola and that it'll get worse because many farmers won't be able to access fields during the upcoming harvests of rice and corn.
    The international group Doctor Without Borders warned Tuesday that the world is losing the battle against Ebola and lamented that treatment centers in West Africa have been "reduced to places where people go to die alone."
