Jimmy Carter national historic site to host free festival

PLAINS, Ga. -

   The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site in Plains, Ga. will host a free Mexican festival on Saturday, October 5. 

   "La Fiesta En El Parque" will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.  There will be non-stop entertainment on the stage at the visitor center at Plains High School.  Havana Son and other local groups will perform traditional Mexican music. 

   A "Taste of Latin America" will be set up on the grounds of the high school featuring a variety of dishes from south of the border. 

   There will be a children's area with an obstacle course and playground along with arts and crafts and face painting.

   Information booths on health, education and social services will be located throughout the festival area.

   The event is free and open to the public.
