Missing Columbus child returned, police looking for mom

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A 19-month-old Columbus toddler taken from a child care facility by her non-custodial mother has been safely returned, Columbus police announced her this morning.

   Police say 19-month old La'Jourra Brantley was taken from a Columbus child day care facility by her 17-year old non-custodial mother, Latoya Brantley, Wednesday evening. The mother then returned the child there around 1 a.m. before leaving again..

Both are in the temporary custody of the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children Services in Albany, Ga. Police are still looking for the mother and it will be up to the childcare facility whether to press charges.

    An Amber Alert has been canceled after 2-year old Maliah Harris was found safe in Georgia. Her 7-month-old sibling, Alyssa, was found dead and Maliah disappeared from a Mississippi home which prompted authorities to issue the alert. The girls parents, Donald Boyd Harris,34, and Allison Studdard, 31, are now in custody.
