Next month is Breast Cancer Awareness month in Georgia as proclaimed by Governor Nathan Deal.
State Rep. Joyce Chandler (R-Grayson) is wanting to make all Georgians aware of the availability of Breast Cancer Awareness stamps. She says a portion of the proceeds from the sale of each stamp goes to help fund cancer research.
Chandler says the stamps can be purchased at any local post office.
Seventy percent of the net amount of money raised from the sale of the stamps goes to the National Institutes of Health. Thirty percent is given to the Medical Research Program at the Department of Defense. Through October of last year, the stamp has raised over $76 million for breast cancer research.
