Jordan Red Jackets named the Athletes of the Week

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Thanks to snapping a 26-game losing streak that stretched over two years, the Jordan Red Jacket football team is the latest WRBL Athletes of the Week.

Jordan beat Temple, 14-13, last Saturday for the school's first win since 2010.

"We had a positive attitude," said senior quarterback William Harris. "We were ready to play."

Harris threw for more than 200 yards in the win, something that has been a long time coming.

"We came out determined to win," said senior tackle Raymond Browder. "We were tired of losing, so we said we have to win this one, and this was the game we knew we had to win."

The win was the first of the season for the Red Jackets, making them just 1-2 overall, but a perfect 1-0 in 5-AA going in to week four.

"I could tell there was a difference, even in the offseason and the spring," said head coach Jim Brown. "I was looking forward to it. All you can do is go out there and strap it up and see what happens, and that's what we're going to do. We're going to battle every week."

Jordan will have to wait at least two more weeks to start their first winning streak since 2010. They fell to Spencer, 39-7, Thursday night.
