Man dead after shooting on 7th Street

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Columbus police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Thursday night.

Our media partner the Ledger-Enquirer reports 34-year-old David Scott was fatally shot in the head. The shooting happened near the intersection of 7th Street and Coolidge Avenue.

Scott was still alive but wounded when an officer saw him in his white Chevrolet Impala at about 10:40 p.m.

An unnamed passenger told police that an unknown number of people in a Ford pickup truck shot at them.

Scott was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m.

No suspects are named at this time.
