Motorists who use the West Point Dam Road for their daily commutes, will have to find another route Friday, September 27, 2013.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Mobile District announced today that vehicular and pedestrian traffic across the dam road will be closed that day to ensure public safety as contractors complete roadway maintenance.
The USACE says the closure may add to travel time, as many motorists use the dam to cross the Chattahoochee River. Signs located at each end of the road are in place to notify the public of its accessibility.
Alternate routes across the river are US Highway 29 Bridge in West Point, Georgia, and the Georgia Highway 109 Bridge near LaGrange, Ga.
