Tampa Bay couple builds dream mansion

From amazing replicas of the Tampa Theater to the Oval Office, one Tampa Bay area millionaire couple has built their dream home.

Mision Lago is the Tampa areas newest ultra-mansion.

For June and Tom Simpson, it was four years in the making. The couple’s 26,000 square foot home sits on Lake Thonotosassa and is complete with 40 rooms, including 13 bathrooms.

“It's a very peaceful place,” June Simpson said.

The home is both peaceful and extravagant, filled with uniqueness at each corner and over the top replicas that could wow just about anyone.

Built by Sterling Bay Homes, the $7.5 million Mision Lago has stunning Spanish inspired architecture. Outside, the white stucco and arched windows compliment the red roof line and surrounded by beautiful palm trees. Inside the home, there is a guest bedroom with Cher's bed. It is actually the bed once owned by the famous singer.

The house is filled with uniqueness, including a 900 square foot replica of Oval Office. It has the same kind of desk President John F. Kennedy's little John John so famously poked his head from.

There is a massive theatre room. The 1,500 square foot replica of the Tampa Theatre is adorned with high end accessories. The nearly 20 feet tall theater is essentially a ‘basement under a basement.’

There is a 900-square-feet sports lounge featuring an extensive sports-memorabilia collection as well as carpeting custom-designed to duplicate the infield at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

And there is a rock-and-roll gallery filled with memorabilia, signed guitars and a star-studded Hollywood walk of fame.

Not to mention it has a 5,000-square-foot central courtyard.

Despite the luxuries in the building, this is a home the Simpsons share. They believe in giving back, making their home available for non-profits to host events.

“Also for charities that don't necessarily have the glory attached to them. The smaller charities that probably would never have [the] opportunity to give something at a beautiful place at no expense,” June Simpson said.
