COLUMBUS, Ga. -

A missing elderly Columbus woman has returned home after disappearing Monday, according to Columbus police Sgt. Anthony Locey.

Mary Walker, 70, was last seen leaving Atlanta on Monday when she departed for Columbus. Police say she never arrived.

She was seen Monday south of Birmingham in Montevello. Police say she stopped and asked for directions back towards Fort Benning. Also while in Montevello, she spoke with a sheriff's deputy but become frustrated with the official and drove off.

Walker could have early stage dementia, Columbus police say.

They have issued a missing person's alert called a "Matties Call" but that was cancelled Thursday morning.

No further information was available regarding her condition or details on how she returned.
