MONTGOMERY, Ala. -

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is expected to announce Monday plans for a new annual tournament series for amateur anglers.

The Alabama Bass Trail is designed to encourage more anglers to enjoy the state's natural resources. Bass fishing lakes often host professional tournaments, but this event is tailored towards amateurs.

A news conference is planned for Monday on the steps of the State Capitol.

The 11 lakes that form the Alabama Bass Trail are Lake Guntersville, Wheeler Lake, Pickwick Lake, Lewis Smith Lake, Neely Henry Lake, Lay Lake, Logan Martin Lake, Lake Jordan, Alabama River (Millers Ferry), Lake Eufaula and the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
