The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired forward Kellan Tochkin and a fourth-round selection in the 2014 NHL Draft in exchange for forwards Zac Dalpe and Jeremy Welsh, general manager Jim  announced.

Tochkin, 22, totaled 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) and 61 penalty minutes in 56 games with the Missouri Mavericks of the Central Hockey League (CHL) in 2012-13.

The Hurricanes also announced they've assigned forward Chris Terry to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL), pending Terry clearing waivers on Monday at noon.

The Hurricanes open their 2013-14 season on Oct. 4 at PNC Arena against the Detroit Red Wings.
