COLUMBUS, Ga. -

St. Anne Catholic Church will hold a Blessing of the Animals on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., near the flagpole in the parking lot. St. Anne Catholic Church is located at 2000 Kay Circle in Columbus.

The general public is invited to bring their pets, except snakes, as St. Anne Catholic Church Pastor Rev. Jeremiah McCarthy and Parochial Vicar Rev. Jacob Almeter will offer a special blessing for each animal and the family who brings the pet.

The tradition of blessing animals is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures and is customarily celebrated on St. Francis' Feast Day, October 4.

St. Anne Catholic Church is a warm, vibrant Roman Catholic Church located in Columbus, Ga. As part of the Diocese of Savannah, the parish presently has over 1,900 families representing a rich diversity of ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds. St. Anne Parish, a Catholic community of faith, is joyfully committed to living the Gospel through worship and prayer, education, service, and stewardship.
