Valley Rescue Mission's Christmas assistance sign-up set to begin

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

   It's time for folks needing Christmas Holiday assistance from the Valley Rescue Mission to sign up.  Each year the mission provides Christmas toys and holiday food baskets to those in need. 

   The sign-up times are as follows: Oct. 1 - 4 and Oct. 7 - 11 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. 

   Sign-up for working parents will be on Saturday, Oct. 5th and Saturday, Oct. 12th from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. 

   Parents are reminded to bring their children's Social Security or Medicaid cards, proof of/or lack of income, rent/mortgage receipts, and current utility bills.  Grandparents can only sign up their grandchildren if they have legal custody documentation.  Toys are intended for children from newborn to age 12.

   Each year Valley Rescue Mission gives toys to approximately 1,200 area children.  Food bags are given to hundreds of families.
