Free child seat safety check on Fri. at Columbus Health Dept.

Posted: Updated:

Columbus residents can get a free car seat check on Friday at the Columbus Health Department.

The event will take place from 9-11 a.m. and is sponsored by the Georgia Traffic Injury Prevention Institute, UGS Extension Program.

People are asked to go to the gated parking lot across the street and behind the 2100 Comer Avenue Health and Human Services Building.

If a child's car seat is deemed inappropriate or expired, car seat replacements may be given. Parents are asked to bring their vehicle owner's manual and their car seat instruction book. The check usually take about 30 minutes.

Interested parents or caregivers can call the Safe Kids Office at 706 321-6183 from Tuesday-Thursday of this week from 9 am - 2 pm to make an appointment. Appointments are not required, but those having an appointment will be given priority.
