Alabama's Clinton-Dix suspended indefinitely

Posted: Updated:
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -

Alabama star free safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has been suspended "indefinitely" according to head coach Nick Saban.

Saban said the suspension was for a "violation of team rules and policies," and declined to offer further specifics.

"I'm going to be consistent," Saban said. "When guys get suspended, I never ever say what it's for, so I'm not going there. Don't ask me. It's the way it always happens, every guy. They do right, they wouldn't be getting suspended."

Nick Perry is normally the backup at free safety, but he has already been lost for the season due to shoulder surgery. Saban said inside cornerback Landon Collins has been working out at safety, as has Geno Smith.

Alabama hosts Georgia State for homecoming, then faces Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee to round out October.
