ST PETERSBURG, FL -

St. Petersburg Mayor Bill Foster declared October "The Month of the Rays" at Thursday morning's City Council meeting.

Rays fans packed bars around Tampa Bay area Wednesday to watch their team win the American League Wild Card Game against the Cleveland Indians. In just a few days, they can flock to Tropicana Field to watch some post season action in person.

"We know what we're all hoping for," said fan Sherlene Hartford. "I think we can do it. Joe Maddon's the master."

The Rays next stop is Boston. Game 1 is Friday at Fenway Park. The Rays will return home to play the Red Sox in Game 3 on Monday.

Tickets for the first home game are already on sale online for a special American League Division Series Pack. If fans want to buy single game tickets, they'll have to wait until they go online Friday at 1 p.m. Any tickets that remain for Games 3 and 4 on Monday will be available for purchase at the Tropicana Field box office and at all other Rays ticket outlets.

"They have a way of bringing the community together and people who normally support other teams, support one. And it's the Rays and that makes it exciting and fun," said Jennye Morano.
