Herschel Walker visits Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Former University of Georgia running back and Heisman Trophy winner Herschel Walker was in Columbus Tuesday night.

Walker was speaking at the 12th annual New Horizons Benefit dinner.

He was impressed with the play of his alma mater, and thinks the Bulldogs are a serious national title contender this year.

"I think Georgia has a very good chance," he said. "I picked them early on to be playing Alabama in the SEC championship game, and I feel like this year, they can beat Alabama. I think they saw last year how Alabama is no doubt a great, great team, but they played them right to the wire. This year that intimidation is not going to be there, so they can beat them."

Walker also said he liked Mark Richt because Richt held his players accountable for their actions, something, Walker said, other coaches don't do.
