Little Day-to-Day Change

Warm South: High temperature map for Sunday Warm South: High temperature map for Sunday

"Persistence" forecast rules the day across the South, as our weather will change little in the absence of any major frontal systems for the next 5-6 days.

The only change we're likely to see is the gradual warming of an air mass that's been with us since Tuesday.  Highs will edge up to the mid-80s within a day or two and remain a good 7 to 8 degrees above normal until the next cold front arrives.  Morning lows remain cool, but will run a few degrees above average for mid-October.

Sunshine is expected to continue through the weekend and early next week, with only fair weather clouds during the afternoons and possibly some patchy fog on clear, calm mornings.

It does appear from trends in the forecast models that a front will approach us next Wednesday, bringing our next chance of showers.  If the front is able to clear the area quickly, we'll see a drop in temperatures that will send us below normal for the latter half of next week.
