Consumer confidence posts sharpest one week drop

Posted: Updated:

The partial government shutdown and battle over the debt ceiling has Americans concerned.

Consumer confidence posted its sharpest one-week drop since the collapse of Lehman Brothers.

About three times as many people say the economy is in poor shape as those who say it's doing well.

69% of Americans think the economy is likely to get worse, according to a Gallup poll.

One-third of the people in the Gallup survey said that a dysfunctional government is the nation's biggest problem.
